Old Post: Beardyman

Darren Foreman, is a classically trained musician from London who is known for his beatboxing skills. He was given the name Beadyman, when an artist name was quickly needed for an early show. He was sporting a scruffy beard at the time, and seems to have kept it since.

This guy is off the hook. You may have heard of Rahzel? Well this guy has taken Rahzel's idea of beatboxing the beat and the chorus at the same time, and is running with it. Take this video below as an example.

Freaking AMAZING!

What he's doing in that video is recording and looping his voice using a Kaoss Pad. So every percussion instrument, synth, and melody of each song is his own voice looped. Using the Kaoss Pad, he can then assign each 'instrument' to it's own channel, to take away and bring back as he likes, and can add effects to each channel. Then on top of that he has some of the best impressions of ODB and Busta Rhymes that I've ever seen, and what you get is something that no one's ever done before. His live events are 2+ hours of him remaking hip/hop and R&B tracks with just his voice!

But let's go back to his bio. Beardyman was the beatboxing champion of the world in 2006 and 2007, from there he started to make his own crazy videos, adding elements of comedy. Take this one for example. It's got over 3 million views.

Then he got a spot on a BBC TV show called, 'When Will I be famous.'

Despite winning over the studio audience and two of the three judges, he came second in a public vote.

More recently, he's been collaborating with the likes of Fatboy Slim, and A Skillz, and has had his voice and beatboxed synths sampled in some breakbeat tracks that I'll share with you below.
