Harder/Nightcall/Toxic Mashed Bashed Covered and Remixed

A couple of nice updates here. Just recently found what is probably my favorite remix of Harder Better Faster Stronger from St. Beethoven. It does everything, bangs really hard, brings it back to the mellower Daft Punk riff, and mashes and bashes the hell out of the original. All in under 4 minutes. Check it out.

Daft Punk - Harder (St. Beethoven Remix) [WHOA!!!] YSI

Then we've got a brand spanking new remix from F.O.O.L, that hardcore Swedish duo. They haven't been active on the blogs lately, as they've been doing live shows, and are in negotiation with a label to start getting paid for their productions (ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!). So that's cool. However, just recently they've released a bootleg remix of Kavinsky's new little bleep Nightcall. If you can believe it, it's actually really laid back and has a progressive feel, which would be a first for these guys. GET IT NOW!

Kavinsky - Nightcall (F.O.O.L Remix)
[NICE!] YSI

And last but certainly not least we've got Yael Naim's cover of Toxic grimed down to Dubstep by 16 Bit. This guy continues to impress me with his diverse production style, and this time it's a softer bassline that fits in well with the vocals, which sound WAY better than the original anyway.

I'm up to my ears in sweet little bleeps these days guys, so stay tuned for more updates!

Introducing BetaTraxx

Formerly known as Redlight, BetaTraxx is a four on the floor Electro producer who is most notably known for his Top 40 remix work of everything from Little Boots to Ke$ha.

He has a unique production style that ranges from mashing and bashing an original to keeping it pretty much the same. In his words, "Cutting up a song for the sake of putting your name at the end does not benefit someone dancing. This is why some of my remixes are very different from the original and some are pretty similar."

Make sure to show your support by following him on Soundcloud and on Twitter.

Inbox: RuN RiOT and Polizei

Lots of little bleeps appearing in the mailbox lately. First up we have an Electro banger from RuN RiOT. Take Daft Punk and add some vocals from a Lenny Kravitz-esque singer, and you have a recipe for one hell of a remix.

Audio Bullys - Kiss The Sky (RuN RiOT Remix) YSI [WORD!]

Then we've got an original from Polizei, a Dubstep producer based out of Toronto. The guy seems to have made a number of funky Dub bleeps that are pretty diverse, but the one I'm going to share here reminds me a lot of Mt Eden Dubstep's earlier stuff with mellowed out wobble basses along with a melodic, chopped up vocal sample.

Polizei - Turn the Lights Down (Original Mix) YSI <3

Plump DJs Mash It Up!

The Plump DJs are a London based production and DJ duo Lee Rous and Andy Gardner whose energetic, quirky productions and skillful, pounding DJ sets have acquired a loyal and admiring fan base the world over. Their sound is revered for its blurring of the boundaries between electronic musical styles taking in Break-beat, House and Techno.

The same plump duo sent a new mashup my way. It's quite an interesting production blending vocals from Kelis and The Beatles with their usual dose of Breaks with some Electro undertones. Very special.

Split The Atom EP

Ok peeps, a bit late on this one as it was released a month and a half ago, but if you haven't checked out the latest and greatest madness from Noisia, then you're in for a treat. This is easily one of the best releases of 2010 so far. I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Deadmau5 is quoted as saying;

"Noisia fuckin RINSED the hell out of this album... defo my fav album of 2010. If you can get past the same-y signature Noisia bass (which I can't seem to get enough of) this albums a go."

This album is too good not to share. I won't be posting free links to it but I strongly recommend you pick up your copy at Beatport. 17 little bleeps for $12; one of the best deals on there.

Noisia - Stigma (Split the Atom) by NOISIA

The above little bleep ranks up there with the best produced and craziest Drum & Bass bleeps I've ever heard in my entire life. Wait for the drop at 1:29!

Switching it up, we'll go straight into Electro land with a bleep that has the loud elements of Dubstep while still maintaining a dance feel.

Noisia - Alpha Centauri (Split the Atom) by NOISIA

Then there's the bleep that's gotten over 20,000 views on their soundcloud page. It merges Electro with Drum & Bass.

Noisia - Machine Gun (Split the Atom) by NOISIA

In addition to the above posted bleeps, there's also stuff on the album that could be considered Chill Out, as well as Electronica, and Dubstep. This album is diverse and takes you on one HELL of a ride.

Goodie Bag #7

Lots of little bleeps have come out since the last goodie bag. I plan on releasing them to you all over the next week or so.

In the meantime check out these. First up we have a a few little bleeps from nintyNine. You might remember his sick remix of We Are Tokyo's 'Best In Me'? Well, he released a few other bleeps on his soundcloud page for free, and I'm going to share them with you now. The first one reminds me a lot of old school SebastiAn or Justice. The Electro/Nu Disco connection and what not.

Then there are a couple of Lady Gaga remixes that have gotten some attention lately from Skrillex (who does a sick Electro mix) and Afrojack (who drops his typical House sound in fine fashion).

And last but not least there's a few Dubstep bleeps. One a rerub of 1979 from The Smashing Pumpkins, a bootleg cut of Some Chords from Deadmau5, and a remix of Lights from Ellie Goulding.

From the casino rooftops of Vegas to the New Year’s crowds of the Australian Festivals The Loose Cannons have come a long, long way from their humble beginnings in a bedsit in South London. Today they are amongst the UK’s most critically, media and industry acclaimed Artists, DJ/Producers and Radio Broadcasters.

Burial - Archangel

Okay, so...in 2007 London based Dubstep producer, Burial, released his second album, 'Untrue' on Hyperdub Records. It was a sensational hit in the underground scene in its time, and one little bleep in particular stood out (at least it did for me) from all the rest. It was called Archangel, and you can pick up your copy at Beatport, or djdownload.

Burial - Archangel (Original)

Archangel has since gotten some attention from other producers. Mt Eden Dubstep decided to do a cut of it that was even more meditative and downtempo than the original.

Burial - Archangel (Mt Eden Dubstep Remix) YSI

Then there's an excellent bootleg from Zeno that still maintains that rich reverb but has a breakdown that hits a lot harder.

Burial - Archangel (Zeno Bootleg)
YSI <3

Lastly there's a positively groovy remix from Boy 8-Bit. He manages to maintain the flow and feeling of the original, while switching up the bpm's and making it more of a housey remix.

Works Like Clockwork

There is a producer from Los Angeles whose production value is really high. His signature sound is Electro, and he does it well. One interesting little tidbit about this guy is that he's only been in the scene for 2 years. Before that, he was never making music.

He goes by Clockwork, and he's like a prodigy or something. His story reminds me a lot of Last Japan.

Lucky for us, he's decided that even though his production value is so high, he still wants to give away his material for free. This first remix is a peak hour club banger of a remix of Crystal Castles, and I am excited to share it with you all.

Crystal Castles - Celestica (Clockwork Remix)
YSI [AWESOME!!!]

Next up we have what is one of the best remixes of Snoop Dogg that I've probably ever heard. The Dogg has teamed up with Kid Cudi, and they've been laying down some pretty sweet little bleeps. Clockwork has decided to give us a totally hot remix, good for both the dancefloor or for when you're driving in your car thinking about how life is alright.

Snoop Dogg - That Tree feat. Kid Cudi (Clockwork Remix)
YSI <3

This next one is a bit more on the raw side of Electro, wait for the drop at 0:57.

LexiconDon - Heart Attack (Clockwork Remix) YSI

And last but certainly not least, he does a remix of Felix Cartel that fits into only what you could call 'Progressive Electro.' Although it has a few crazy drops that are more characteristic in Electro, it still has this progressive feel. It reminds me a lot of 'So There I Was' by Deadmau5, although this one is more like it's dark funky cousin.

Heartstep

Hold the phone, stop the presses, turn on your speakers, up the bass, and have a listen. It's Heartstep the newest mix for Music For Change, mixed by Omega. This is a totally refreshing look on Dubstep, which has grown into a totally diverse genre of music. There were a couple of times where I had to stop everything I was doing and just listen. Very good mix here.

Metallica + Bassnectar

Hey guys,

So looks like Bassnectar has released their newest mash-up. This time it's of a really old little bleep from Metallica. They unveiled it at Coachella, where Lorin said he had his best set ever. I would have given anything to be there, but I guess this little bleep will have to do.

Goodie Bag #6

Looks like it's time for another Goodie Bag. Today things are pretty diverse. Here we go.

First up I got an email from Jeuce giving away another rework. He's been pumping out a lot of remix work for a while now, and he's also been generous enough to share with the likes of us. Looks like it's melodic Electro, and fits right in with the rest of the reworks.

Logistics - Kaleidascope (Jeuce Rework) YSI <3

Staying with melodic Electro, there's this great remake of 'Candy Shop' from 50 Cent that's been floating around. Dem Slackers remixed this tune that goes into that sweet, familiar melody and then drops into hardcore Electro. Check it out.

Sandro Silva, Anjiro Rijo - Fifty What (Dem Slackers Remix) YSI [NIIICE!!!]

Paysites - Beatport

Next up we have a couple of new, harder Electro bleeps from St. Beethoven and Violence, who are always fun to listen to.

Violence - Hunted By The Police (Original Mix) YSI

St. Beethoven - Alfa (Original Mix) YSI

Last but not least is a cover of Florence & The Machine from The XX. It's quiet and indie. You've got the love.

Some Chords

Everyone should know about Deadmau5's new little bleep he released on mau5trap records today. It's called, 'Some Chords' and it's pretty epic with a fantastic lead in.

Check out the preview above, and make sure to pick up your copy at Beatport.

Enjoy.
