Excision Drops The Motherload!

Whoa now. I was cruising around soundcloud, listening to the same old same old, when I came across Excision's page. Until 21 hours ago, he hadn't updated it for a full year, but lo and behold, there are TONS of little bleeps up there now, and a lot of them he's giving away! Some of them are big hits from him, and he's calling the giveaways, 'The X Pack.' The ones 'Subsonic' and 'Yin Yang' that he did with DZ, really stand out (for starters).

In case you don't want to go to his page, you can download everything he's giving away here. They're all in sparkling 320!

Bassnectar's New EP!!!

Yes that's right folks, everyone's favorite guru of Bass is back with a new EP. It's called Wildstyle, and it's due for release on October 19th. I am expecting big things considering how big his last two releases were.

Also, if you live in Europe then you will have a chance to see Bassnectar live. I saw him at Ultra Music Fest last April, and I can say that without a doubt, out of all the big names there, he was my favorite performer. He puts on QUITE a show. Here's his tour dates for November.

Fri 12-Nov-10 @ Fabric, London UK
Sat 13-Nov-10 @ Institute, Birmingham UK
Tue 16-Nov-10 @ Tuesday Club, Sheffield UK
Thu 18-Nov-10 @ Ifor Bach, Cardiff UK
Fri 19-Nov-10 @ Crawdaddy, Dublin IR
Sat 20-Nov-10 @ Café Leopold, Vienna AT

New From Bassnectar

Bassnectar, everyone's favorite guru of bass, brings you a brand new little bleep. It's called Massive Attack, and it puts me in a groove like nothing else right now. Check it out. I especially like the drop at 2:12.

Lots Of Bass!!!

Oh man, there is some serious shit coming out from several of my favorite Dubstep artists these days. Here we go.

One of them, Enigma, just got signed officially on Visualize Recordings (they all grow up so fast *sniff*), and we'll start off with his remix of Sigur Ros.

Sigur Ros - Sæglopur (Enigma Remix) [AWESOME!!!] YSI

We also have an update from Bassnectar. He has this to say of his newest remix.

"I wanted to flash-release a little summer time jam, and decided on a brand new loopy remix I did of an awesome band called Sleigh Bells ...it isn't meant to be a banger or anything more than a nice, thick slice of dreamy sunshine (and bass). Enjoy!"

Stay tuned for the 'Massive Attack Remix' which will launch from his site in a week or two.

And we have one HELL of a remix from Zeds Dead. They've been absent from blogger land for a while now, but now they're back and making up for lost time. This time they went with a Dubstep remix of The Rolling Stones. When I first heard the drop at 0:54 I wanted to freak out.

Stay tuned folks, more to come!

Metallica + Bassnectar

Hey guys,

So looks like Bassnectar has released their newest mash-up. This time it's of a really old little bleep from Metallica. They unveiled it at Coachella, where Lorin said he had his best set ever. I would have given anything to be there, but I guess this little bleep will have to do.

Goodie Bag #2

Hey bleepfans, so we're finally operational and ready to go again. There have been a lot of amazing little bleeps that have cropped up in the week since this blog has been down. I'm going to share them all with you guys right now.

First up we have, an aptly named little bleep from Dada Life. It's basically a remake of Satisfaction from Benny Benassi with a few twists and turns. If you've been into electronic music as long as I have, it will be a bit nostalgic as well ;).

Dada Life - Just Bleep Me (Satisfaction) (Original Mix) [YES! Yes I will...]

Paysites - Beatport

Then there is what I consider to be F.O.O.L's best production to date, and a great remix of Ludacris. Not to mention a positively STUNNING remix from Bassnectar.

Boys Noize - Sweet Light (Boris Dlugosch Remix) [Wait for 1:07]

F.O.O.L - To Japan And Never Back (Original Mix) [AMAZING!!!]

Kidda - Everything Bad Is Good For You (TLGB Remix) [If you liked Herve's remix of Ain't No Sunshine, you'll like this one too]

Paysites - Beatport

Bassnectar - Magical World feat. Nelly Furtado (Original Mix) [One HELL of a remix]

Ludacris - How Low Can You Go (Malo's Trash Bag Remix)

Also, a crazy disco banger from The Toxic Avenger. You'll know its quality when you listen.

The Toxic Avenger - NU 1553 (Original Mix)

Miike Snow - Animal (Treasure Fingers Remix) [Older, but still awesome]

Duck Sauce, A-Trak, Armand Van Heldan - aNyway (Black Noise Disco Mix)

Drowning Pool - Bodies (Ikki Remix)
[If you ever liked metal, you'll love this remix]

Old Post: Bassnectar

Oh goodness gracious...what did we stumble upon? Only one thing is certain; Bassnectar is his own unique force in the universe.

He is apparently "a freeform electronic music and social experimentation project" created by Lorin Ashton, and a few on and off collaborators. Ashton describes Bassnectar's sound as "omni-tempo maximalism," by which he means combining beats and basslines with music of any or all speeds, time signatures, rhythms, and sound source. His sound gravitates towards heavier tempos with dubby and wobbly basslines.

He also uses electronic methods to embellish and reinforce other styles of music, like punk rock, blues, salsa, film scores, and others. Check out this unreleased Pixies remix (the original was played at the end of the movie Fight Club). It blew my mind the first time I heard it.

The Pixies - Where Is My Mind? (Bassnectar Remix)

Bassnectar's live shows typically consist of three major elements: sound, visuals, and a sense of unity. He gets up there with is REALLY long hair, puts on some of that dub, and just head bangs the shit out of his music like an old metal band member.

Overall this guy is one explosive dude, and I promise you loyal reader, we will be posting more of him.
